Safety Coordinator Jay Stetz awarded Construction Health and Safety Technician certification.

The Council on Certification of Health, Environmental, and Safety Technologists (CCHEST) recently awarded Mid-Atlantic Safety Coordinator Jay Stetz a Construction Health and Safety Technician certification (CHST).  The CHST certification is awarded to individuals who meet the experience and/or education requirements which include passing a four-hour exam.  The exam covers safety and health inspections, general safety training, safety and health record keeping, hazard communication compliance, safety analysis and planning, accident investigations, program management and administration, OSHA and other inspections.

According to CCHEST, a Construction Health and Safety Technician provides an important supporting effort at the job site to aid in the protection of workers, the public, property and the environment.  Furthermore, the CHST functions within specifically designed and managed programs aimed at compliance with the safety principles of federal, state, and local levels.  The CHST certification program is operated by the Council on Certification of Health, Environmental, and Safety Technologists, a division of the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Mr. Stetz has been an employee of Southland for four years and has managed Southland’s safety efforts on several large projects including the Pentagon renovation, Walter Reed Hospital and the Baltimore Convention Center Hotel.
