Southland Industries Southern California Division receives Award of Excellence at the 2009 Western Pacific Region DBIA Awards.

On May 21, 2009, The Western Pacific Region of the Design-Build Institute of America presented Southland Industries with an Award of Excellence for the 12 story, 186,000 square foot Children's Hospital of Orange County Commerce Tower. Southland Industries provided Design-Build services which entailed replacing the main HVAC direct expansion cooling system with a new chilled water system. Specifically, Southland installed two new 375 ton chillers, four chilled water coils, four chilled water and condenser water pumps, a cooling tower, and new chilled water and condenser water systems.  The aggressive project schedule was slated for completion within six months, however Southland was able to complete the project two months ahead of schedule. Furthermore, the work performed by Southland is expected to lower the hospitals operating costs by over $150,000 in the first year.
