Southland’s Northstar Lodge Project Receives LEED Silver Certification
The Hyatt Northstar Lodge in Truckee, California was recently certified LEED Silver compliant by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). According to the USGBC, LEED certification is an internationally recognized green building certification system which provides third-party verification that a building is designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across the metrics that matter most such as: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. In regards to the Northstar project, Southland designed and built the HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for the 94,000 s.f. condominium time share and fitness center buildings. Due to Southland’s Design-Build project delivery methodology, commencement of critical underground services was made possible while the final phase of the mechanical design was still being completed. As a result, the Northstar’s mechanical systems were completed within budget and on schedule.
