Mid-Atlantic Division Awarded Arena Stage Maintenance Contract
Southland Industries’ Mid-Atlantic division was awarded the maintenance contract for the recently renovated and expanded Arena Stage project in Washington, D.C. The Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater contains three distinctive theaters which are encased in an artistically inspired shell. A true Design-Build-Maintain project, Southland completely renovated the existing Kreeger and Fichandler Theaters, and designed and built the new Cradle Theater. The unique design and project location required innovative engineering solutions which resulted in some out-of-the-ordinary equipment locations that Southland will be responsible for maintaining. Specifically, Southland will be responsible for the maintenance of 18 air handling units, four boilers, seven cabinet unit heaters, two chillers, two cooling towers, 43 fan-powered induction units, six humidifiers, 27 pumps, 11 electric unit heaters, 21 CAV/VAV boxes, eight backflow preventers and seven sump pumps. The Mid-Atlantic Technical Services Group is excited to win this contract as it demonstrates Southland’s ability to deliver innovative and comprehensive Design-Build-Maintain solutions to our customers.
