Southland Industries Awarded Walter Reed Service and Maintenance Contract

Southland Industries was recently awarded the service and maintenance contract for the Building 9 Surgical Suite at the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, Maryland. This contract will provide full maintenance and service support which includes 13 operating rooms, 14,000 s.f. of BSL–2 laboratory space, 4 BSL–3 laboratories, 28 recovery beds and several specialized labs. Southland's contract includes the service and maintenance of all HVAC equipment, as well as the Johnson Controls building automation system.

Southland was responsible for providing Design–Build mechanical services during the recent renovation and expansion of WRNMMC, which provided Southland with firsthand knowledge about the state–of–the–art mechanical systems and capabilities. By working closely with the owner to establish the needs for the facility, Southland's Ryan Nagle, Scott Burton, Ben Golden and the Technical Services Group created a proposal that would capitalize on the mechanical systems and ensure efficient and reliable operation of the facility.
