Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest MEP building systems experts, recently expanded its electrical capabilities with the hiring of Associate Principal Engineer Michael Starego. As a company specializing engineering, construction, service, controls, and energy solutions, the addition of Mr. Starego bolsters Southland’s design-only offerings as well as design-build work.
With Mr. Starego’s expertise in electrical engineering and history of innovative design, he will serve as a technical resource for the company’s design engineers and detailers, while also supporting Southland’s controls, fire protection, and energy services.
“We are excited to welcome Michael to the Southland team and know that his strong leadership expertise and reputation of producing prompt, high quality work in response to client needs will help cultivate Southland’s in-house electrical design capabilities,” stated Southland’s Mid-Atlantic Division Leader Mike Miller.
“I am looking forward to supporting Southland’s electrical needs amongst all divisions and departments, and continuing to grow this talented team of internal experts,” stated Mr. Starego.
As a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Mr. Starego holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering. He is also a LEED accredited professional and is a professional engineer registered in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC. Formerly a vice president and director of electrical engineering for a consulting engineering firm, Mr. Starego is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the National Fire Protection Association, and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.
