Southland Industries Awarded Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center Expansion

Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest MEP building systems experts providing engineering, construction, service, and energy service solutions, was recently awarded the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center expansion project in San Diego, California.

As part of a campus master plan upgrade to be completed in 2030, Southland’s work contributes to a 170,000 square foot addition to the existing hospital. The facility consists of seven floors, eight ICU beds, 136 patient beds, and a linked pathway connecting the existing administration building to the ocean view tower. Southland’s scope of work consists of the HVAC installation for the new bed tower, which includes development and testing support areas as an extension of the existing hospital.

The project’s design phase is anticipated to begin in November 2015, construction is expected to commence in February 2017, and overall project completion is anticipated by September 2019.
