Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest MEP building systems experts providing engineering, construction, service and energy service solutions, was recently awarded the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) St. Luke’s Replacement Hospital project in San Francisco, California. In addition to Southland, the design-build project team includes SmithGroup, HerreroBoldt, Rosendin Electric, Silverman & Light, Pankow, Harrison Drywall and RLH Fire Protection.
Totaling 234,000 square feet, the new 120-bed, seven-story hospital will include services such as inpatient care, diagnostics and treatment, intensive care, and labor and recovery. Southland will perform design-build mechanical and plumbing services for the project, while complying with the state of California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development OSHPD-1 requirements and standards. The mechanical and plumbing scope of work for which Southland is responsible will involve the design and installation of a water-cooled chilled water plant, a heating hot water plant, domestic hot water plant and storage, medical gas system, a grease exhaust system, as well as stair pressurization systems.
With a goal of LEED certification, the project is currently in design, and expects construction to commence in March 2015. Overall project completion is anticipated by April 2018.
