Chris Taylor and Nicolas Sfeir prepare to lead Southern California and Southwest Division, respectively
Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest design-build mechanical contracting firms, recently announced the appointment of two new division leaders. Chris Taylor
, a twelve-year veteran of the company and former operations manager in the firm's Mid-Atlantic Division, will now lead the Southern California Division. Former project manager, Nicolas Sfeir
, whose tenure with Southland also spans nearly twelve years, will head up the Southwest Division.
As division leaders, Mr. Taylor and Mr. Sfeir will be responsible for accelerating business development, with a focus on strengthening Southland Industries' position as the design-build-maintain leader in their respective markets. In addition, each will play a key role in fostering Southland's culture of success and innovation through the utilization of in-house engineering and field expertise.
"Since joining the company, Chris and Nicolas have exceeded every expectation of their various roles, managing and delivering exceptional work on many of Southland's most challenging projects," said Ted Lynch, CEO of Southland Industries. "They both have a strong track record of building and leading successful teams, and I am confident they will continue to deliver superior work as well as provide the leadership critical to Southland's growth in these two key markets."
Mr. Taylor began his career at Southland as a project engineer and advanced to a project manager, senior project manager, and then operations manager before being named Southern California Division Leader. By facilitating the design, coordination, fabrication, and field installation processes, he has led many projects to success, while credibly enforcing Southland's reputation. He is a graduate of Penn State University and is actively involved in the Partnership for Achieving Construction Excellence (PACE), an industry-university alliance focused on education, research and interaction. He is also a member of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
Mr. Sfeir has also held numerous positions within the company, including project engineer, project manager and project director prior to his promotion to Southwest Division Leader. His expertise in the administration of bid proposals and change orders, in conjunction with his ability to maintain fast-track construction schedules make him an exceptional asset to Southland. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) as well as the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).
Collectively, their work includes many large, complex projects employing the design-build and design-assist delivery methods. Having worked on some of Southland's most impressive projects, Mr. Taylor played an instrumental role in achieving quality outcomes for jobs such as Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia, the Hilton Baltimore Convention Center Hotel, and the Kaiser Permanente Data Center in Maryland. Likewise, Mr. Sfeir played an important role in the procurement and execution of projects such as the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Replacement in Fort Hood, Texas, as well as the CityCenter Hotel Tower and the South Point Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
