Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) building systems experts providing engineering, construction, service, and energy service solutions, recently hosted its Annual Southern California Golf Tournament in La Habra Heights, CA. Held at Hacienda Golf Club, the profits from the tournament were donated to the American Heart Association and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Attracting over 144 participants and 50 generous sponsors and partners, the event was one of Southland’s most profitable fundraising efforts, allowing each organization to receive $40,000.
Chris Smith, Business Manager of Southland’s Southern California Division, stated, “This year’s annual golf tournament was record breaking in numbers, raising more than $80,000 in proceeds. Our organization could not be more proud to have the opportunity to support two great charities—the American Heart Association and Children’s Hospital of Orange County.”
“On behalf of everyone at the American Heart Association, thank you team Southland for producing such an inspiring and successful golf tournament. We value our partnership and are grateful for the opportunity to be chosen as one of your charity beneficiaries. Together, we can continue to further our mission and advocate for a healthy community free of heart disease and stroke!” commented Dana Moore, Business Development Director at the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association is a non-profit organization in the United States that promotes appropriate cardiac care in an effort to decrease disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke.
CHOC Children’s Hospital has consistently been committed to providing the highest quality medical care to children. Expressing gratitude for Southland’s contribution, Director of Special Events at CHOC Children’s Foundation Zach Abrams said, “The generosity and support that CHOC receives from Southland Industries is truly humbling. Their entire team works so hard all year, reaching out to their incredible family of supporters to create a philanthropic golf tournament that focuses on the needs of the children and families CHOC serves.” Abrams continued with, “Every year they continue to do more for these special children and this year we were blown away by their gift of $40,000! All of us at CHOC Children's Hospital are truly grateful to Southland Industries and their associates for this and look forward to seeing them at the 2015 CHOC Walk in the Park.”
