Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest MEP building systems experts, hosted its 7th Annual Tee-Off for Charity Golf Tournament on September 24th at Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia. Southland’s Mid-Atlantic Division chose to donate proceeds from the tournament to local non-profit organizations, Loudoun Youth, Inc. and Loudoun Habitat for Humanity. In total, the tournament raised approximately $60,000 for the two beneficiaries.
“This year marked Southland’s 7th annual golf outing and, as an established business in Loudoun County, we could not have been more excited to work with the Loudoun Habitat for Humanity and Loudoun Youth charities again,” stated Mike Miller, Southland’s Mid-Atlantic Division Leader. “We continue to be grateful for the support that our clients, vendors, and subcontractors in the engineering and construction industry provide us each fall. It’s through their generosity that we can continue to build a stronger community here in Loudoun County,” Miller continued.
Jared Melvin, President and CEO of Loudon Youth said, “The financial support from this golf tournament has enabled Loudoun Youth, Inc. to touch so many lives of young people throughout Loudoun County. Together with our supporters and partners we are creating a community where our youth are stepping up and making a difference in the lives of others. The programs we run gives them the leadership skills, the sense of empowerment, and the connections they need to make positive contributions to our communities.”
Putting faith into action since its incorporation in 1993, Loudoun Habitat for Humanity works toward the goal of eliminating poverty housing throughout the county by providing innovative and affordable housing solutions to qualified individuals and families. It is the conviction of Loudoun Habitat that everyone deserves the opportunity to work to obtain affordable housing. Kari Murphy, Development Director shared, "We are overwhelmed with the support Southland Industries has provided year after year and their dedication to giving back to the community. With your generous gift, we will be able to continue to do what we love – that is, empowering partner families, creating stability for their children, and finding an affordable place to call home.”
